Arsenal face Gabriel Jesus transfer scrap as Juventus and Newcastle eye Man City star

Interest in Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus is growing, with the Brazilian at the center of a four-way battle for his signature this summer as two Italian clubs step up their interest.

Gabriel Jesus has scored key goals for Manchester City this season, including in the 2-2 draw with Premier League title rivals Liverpool.

Departures from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad rather than starters seem to be dominating the conversation at the Etihad at the moment, as the club look set to see a number of high-profile departures this summer.

City have already completed the signing of one of Europe’s hottest properties, with Norwegian striker Erling Haaland agreeing to join them from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Gabriel Jesus is a player who appears to be on the verge of leaving City and while Arsenal appeared to be in a prime position to sign the striker, a number of other clubs have reportedly shown interest in the Brazilian who has left the Gunners in a fight to secure the player’s signature this summer. Here are the latest Man City transfer rumours.

Jesus’ interest heats up

Striker Jesus may have spent a lot of time on the fringes of City’s first team, but he’s in high demand now that he looks set to leave. Arsenal remain in pole position to land the Brazil international, out of contract in 2023, given his decent relationship with Pep Guardiola’s former No.2 Mikel Arteta.

But with the prospect of Champions League football slipping back in the Emirates following defeats to Spurs and Newcastle, Jesus could look to Serie A for a move instead. The striker is keen to work his way into Brazil’s World Cup picture and Italian website Calcio Mercato claim interest from AC Milan and possibly Juventus could challenge the Gunners.

Of the two, it was Stefano Pioli’s Rossoneri who made sustained contacts with Jesus’ representatives in an attempt to convince him to join their project. Newcastle are another team that could still come in late.

Gundogan wanted by Spurs

Tottenham have emerged as contenders to sign Ilkay Gundogan, with Antonio Conte open to the idea of buying Champions League experience.

The Mail has revealed the Germany international has ended his stellar career at Etihad and now HITC are reporting he could be targeted by Spurs. A midfielder is high on Conte’s priority list, with cover needed for Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. In a World Cup year, Harry Winks may want to leave and Oliver Skipp has been injured.

And with Gundogan, 31, seeking a new challenge away from City a year or two in London could suit a player with connections in the capital.

The battle for Haaland’s sponsors

Sports kit giants Puma and Adidas are set to face off in a £50million bidding war against Erling Haaland according to Sports Illustrated. The German duo are both looking to convince City’s new signing of a personal sponsorship deal over kit and clothing.

As the striking sensation’s deal with Nike ended earlier this year, two major sportswear giants are unsurprisingly eyeing the youngster’s signing as they realize his potential global appeal. Along with France international Kylian Mbappe, City’s new striker is one of the two hottest properties in football and is set to inherit Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s crown as the sport’s most marketable duo.

Porro move completed

City have increased their summer transfer fund as defender Pedro Porro completed a permanent move to Sporting Lisbon. Right-back Poro, 22, joined City for around £5.5million in 2019 from sister club Girona before being loaned to Real Valladolid for the season.

He then joined Sporting on loan in 2020 for a two-year spell and will make his move permanent after impressing in 72 appearances for the Portuguese side but was shipped off by City.
