In a recent piece by Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer, the addition of reliever Tyler Rogers to a three-year, $36 million deal has been labeled as one of the 'Sneaky Good' signings in MLB.
Rogers, who has a career 2.76 ERA across 424 innings, is known for his unique submarine pitching style. In 2025, he made 81 appearances between the Giants and the New York Mets, posting an impressive 1.98 ERA across 77.1 innings.
"Rogers’ 83.5 mph sinker isn’t going to put a dent in a car door, but that same car door won’t know what hit it any more than the typical batter does. There isn’t a more extreme arm slot in the league than Rogers’ submarine release. And what he lacks in whiffs, he makes up for in soft contact.”
Will Rogers be the Closer?
It's unlikely that Rogers will take over the closer role from Jeff Hoffman, who had a 33-save season. Rogers will be another valuable option for manager John Schneider late in games.
