The study included 31,687 women diagnosed with breast cancer between 1972 and 2021, alongside 158,433 female controls matched by birth year and parity. By leveraging Finnish national registries, the team gathered detailed information on induced abortions, miscarriages, deliveries, postmenopausal hormone therapy use, socioeconomic status, and occupation. To ensure accuracy, they employed multivariate conditional logistic regression analysis to evaluate associations, accounting for potential confounding factors.

The results were clear: among premenopausal women under 50, the odds ratio (OR) for breast cancer after pregnancy loss was 1.00 (95% CI, 0.92-1.09), while for postmenopausal women aged 50 and above, it was 0.95 (95% CI, 0.86-1.06).
