In a surprising turn of events, iconic singer Neil Young has announced the cancellation of his highly anticipated tour dates in the UK and other parts of Europe, where he was set to perform alongside his band, The Chrome Hearts.
At 80 years old, the Canadian-American musician expressed his heartfelt apologies to fans in a message shared on his official website late Friday night. He emphasized that now is "not the time" for live performances and revealed his decision to step back and take a much-needed break.
Originally scheduled to kick off this summer, the tour included exciting stops in cities like Manchester, Glasgow, Woodstock in Oxfordshire, and Cork. Fans were looking forward to seeing Young take the stage and share his music once again.
In his message posted on the Neil Young Archives website, he conveyed: "I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time. Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets. I’m genuinely sorry to let you down, but this is not the time. I truly enjoy performing live and connecting with all of you and The Chrome Hearts. With love, Neil. Take care."
Young's collaboration with The Chrome Hearts began in 2024, and together they were expected to deliver unforgettable performances. The tour was set to start in June at the Eden Project in Cornwall and wrap up in Lucca, Italy, by July. Some of the other now-cancelled tour stops included Nancy in France, Weert in the Netherlands, and Zottegem in Belgium.
Throughout his impressive six-decade career, Neil Young has garnered numerous accolades, including two Grammy Awards and nine Juno Awards, solidifying his legacy in the music industry. Furthermore, he has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on two occasions—first as a solo artist in 1995 and then with the band Buffalo Springfield in 1997.
His catalog features well-loved classics such as "Cinnamon Girl," "Like A Hurricane," and "Rockin' In The Free World." Just last year, he captivated audiences as a headliner at Glastonbury and also performed at BST Hyde Park, showcasing his enduring appeal and talent.
