The display showcased in Las Vegas, with its metal back, is likely a prototype of Samsung's version. Interestingly, Apple's iPhone Fold is expected to utilize ultra-thin glass (UTG) instead of the metal backing.
This revelation raises questions. Although both displays will differ from existing foldables' polymer base layers, the MONT Flex Display might be closer to Apple's final design than the screens of current foldable phones. But why the change of plans for the iPhone Fold?

Samsung's Mont Flex Display promises reduced crease visibility thanks to innovative adhesives that bind the screen layers, allowing for a more flexible fold. With no other alterations to the display layers, similar performance is expected for both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the iPhone Fold.
As for availability, Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 is anticipated to be officially unveiled this summer, following the timeline of previous Z Fold releases. Apple, on the other hand, is rumored to launch the iPhone Fold in September, aligning with its traditional iPhone release month.
