The 80s-inspired Marcell von Berlin spring / summer 2022 women’s and men’s clothing collection debuted last night at the James Goldstein Residence. Celebrities such as 24kGolden, Angelica Ross, Niecy Nash, Denzel Dion, Rickey Thompson, Toni Braxton and Yung Miami attended the show in their own Marcell von Berlin clothes.

This collection pays homage to the 80s, a decade full of women entering the workforce and, inevitably, the sweaty obsession with silhouettes that represent power. Inspired by this feminist perspective, Berlin has designed clothes for ‘powerful dressers’, rebels and fashionistas, with the goal of empowering women in all ways, shapes and forms. Her goal for the collection’s theme was to be “bigger and bolder,” aligning directly with her oversized silhouettes and shoulder pads, almost serving as experimentation. He also wanted to make reference to the pop culture of the time, seen in his leather and denim pieces.

As well as having a variety of bold patterns, the collection also includes the boldest colors – bright green, coral and orange – but also pastel hues and darker colors. Some of his new styles include high waisted boyfriend jeans and high waisted wide leg jeans. In addition, there are several patterned jumpsuits for all genders, long evening dresses with extra sparkles, matching patterned tops and bottoms, as well as leather sets and dresses. Many models highlight the shoulders, through puffed or feathery sleeves, large epaulettes or completely bare shoulders.

Some of the best looks included gloves, like the dark green sleeveless blazer-pants pair with hot pink gloves and the leather dress with matching leather gloves. Other standout looks were the gray dress with a slit on the leg and an accented shoulder sleeve, the indigo overcoat with a bralette and psychedelic pants and boots, the plaid blazer skirt ensemble with white fishnet tights. and white boots that gave us all the vibes with no idea, and the plaid blazer over the orange print dress and boots, completely mixing and matching the patterns.

“The Spring / Summer 2022 collection is very focused on form, silhouette and volume,” said Marcell von Berlin. “I was inspired by one of fashion’s most eclectic decades. Shoulder pads, power suits, puffed sleeves and high waisted jeans, my old favorites are back.
