Patagonia Provisions x Dogfish Head Brewery Kernza Pils Beer

In April 2020, at the start of the pandemic, Patagonia, a brand known for its outdoor clothing and gear, entered a whole new industry: food. Patagonia Provisions was born, and with it a host of new products that grew to include venison links, turmeric breadfruit crackers, and even beer. Yes, beer. In 2016, the company launched its Long Root line of beers, which includes Long Root IPA, Long Root Wit and Long Root Pale Ale. But now Patagonia has doubled down on a new soapy product, with some beer experts in tow.

In partnership with Delaware’s national phenomenon microbrewery, Dogfish Head, climate-conscious Patagonia Provisions is launching its all-new beer, Kernza Pils, a refreshing German-style pilsner made with organic ingredients including barley, hops and, of course, Kernza. The Contessa hops help the beer establish its floral notes and subtle spiciness, while the Kernza grain has a nutty, buttery flavor that comes through here as well.

Speaking of Kernza, it’s a revolutionary new wheat-like grain from America that’s grown as a sustainable crop and can help reduce greenhouse gases. As a bonus, the grain is also higher in protein and fiber than other types of wheat. The roots of this perennial cereal, which was developed at the Land Institute in Salina, Kansas, can reach 12 feet in length and draw carbon from the atmosphere and store it in the soil, restoring and improving soil health. . himself.

Over the past 20 years, Dogfish Head Brewery has grown tremendously as it is now recognized nationwide as one of the best breweries. Kernza Pils by Patagonia Provisions and Dogfish Head Brewery are now available in six-pack varieties and on tap in 15 states across the country.
